The International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) has ushered in a transformative era in sustainability reporting with the introduction of the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards. This groundbreaking shift places equal importance on sustainability and financial reporting, reshaping the landscape for businesses worldwide. The Hong Kong Exchanges (HKEX) has proposed a 1 January 2024 effective date in alignment with the ISSB standards, along with a two-year transition period.



In this webinar, KPMG will present on the latest ISSB Standards and the impact of regulatory measures on sustainability practices. Our speakers will also delve into the implications of enhanced climate-related disclosures for listed companies, and will guide you through the key actions that organizations should undertake to successfully navigate these impending changes.

She was the former Director of Corporate Communications and Investor Relations at Sa Sa International Holdings Limited, the leading cosmetics retailer in Asia. Ming was instrumental in developing award-winning investor relations strategies that helped the company maintain a strong relationship with its stakeholders. Prior to joining Sa Sa, she held leadership roles in communication teams for Hong Kong Airlines and Strategic Public Relations Group.

    Head of Sustainability Research (Asia Pacific ex Japan) at Morgan Stanley

    Tim Chan has joined Morgan Stanley in 2020 and is a member of the global sustainability research team. His team ranked #1 in ESG Research in the 2021 Institutional Investor All-Asia Research Poll. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Tim was a senior ESG analyst at Manulife Investment Management where he led the ESG integration, research and engagement efforts in North Asia. Previously, he worked as an advisory manager at Ernst & Young within their climate change and sustainability services team. Tim holds a bachelor of science in molecular biotechnology from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and a master of science in environmental management from the University of Hong Kong. He is also a CFA charter holder, a chartered environmentalist and an EFFAS certified ESG analyst. Tim currently sits on the advisory board for the Division of Environment and Sustainability, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST).

    Eddie Ng is KPMG’s technical leader of reporting and assurance of non-financial information and has hands-on experience in supporting professionals and clients of KPMG China in interpreting ESG-related requirements and ESG assurance matters.

    Eddie possesses expertise and implementation experience across a range of sustainability services to support companies in preparing their ESG reports in compliance with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange’s ESG Reporting Guide and TCFD recommendations. She has led and participated in various ESG advisory and assurance engagements, e.g. stakeholder engagement, material assessment, ESG strategy formulation, ESG rating enhancement and ESG investment management. Eddie is the principal author of the KPMG publication “Climate Change Reporting: Imminent, Challenging & Mandatory – The Opening Moves”, which discusses the key challenges that companies may face in adopting International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB)’s proposed climate standard. She has been a reviewer of Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA)’s ESG and Corporate Governance Awards since 2018 and is also a member of HKICPA’s Sustainability Assurance Advisory Panel. Eddie has a master degree in environmental management. She studied climate-related financial disclosures in her dissertation and researched on the drivers and challenges in implementing the TCFD recommendations in Hong Kong.

    Julie is a competent sustainability practitioner with extensive experience in driving sustainable development and implementation. At Hysan Development Limited, she leads the company's sustainability initiatives through the Community Business Model, which aims to improve community wellness and livability. In addition to overseeing the company's strategic approach to climate change and decarbonization, Julie is also responsible for The Community Lab, a partnership between HKSTP and Hysan that nurtures start-ups through real-life testing of innovative technologies.

    Prior to joining Hysan, Julie has held sustainability roles at other Hong Kong listed companies, including New World Development and NWS Holdings, where she played a leading part in developing and implementing sustainable strategies. She has also gained relevant experience at Swire Properties, KPMG, and Mott MacDonald, with involvement ranging from in-house implementation to consultancy work.

    Julie holds an MBA from the University of Iowa, a Master's degree in Energy and Environmental Studies from Boston University, and a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Auckland, New Zealand. She is qualified as a BEAM Professional and LEED Accredited Professional, and is also an IRCA Environmental Lead Auditor.
